How to choose a car dryer
1. Airflow beats pressure
Drying a car is a volume-of-air problem, not a pressure problem. You are trying to push a sheet of water across a panel and out of a gap, which wants a wide, fast-moving column of air rather than a narrow jet. This is the same distinction we make about pressure washers, where flow rather than PSI does the rinsing. 2. Filtration is not optional

4. Cord, noise and where you will actually use it

Can you just use a leaf blower?
Plenty of people do, and it works — with two caveats. First, filtration: an electric leaf blower has no filter, so it will happily throw yard debris and garage dust at a wet car. Blow the nozzle out and run it for a moment before you point it at the paint, and never use one that has been sitting in a shed full of grass clippings. Second, gas blowers exhaust oily residue into the air stream, which is a bad thing to deposit on paint you are about to wax.

The strongest argument for a blower is not the flat panels — a good towel handles those in a couple of minutes. It is everything else:

- Grilles, badges and trim seams, where a towel cannot reach and water dries into a spot.
- Wheel faces and lug pockets, which stay wet long after the body is dry.
- Before a coating or wax, where any trapped water that runs out mid-application ruins the layer you are putting down.
